As\nsuch, Django 1.0.2 contains no new features (and, pursuant to\n<a class=\"reference internal\" href=\"/en/dev/misc/api-stability/\"><span class=\"doc\">our compatibility policy</span></a>, maintains backwards\ncompatibility with Django 1.0.0), but does contain a number of fixes and other\nimprovements. Django 1.0.2 is a recommended upgrade for any\ndevelopment or deployment currently using or targeting Django 1.0.</p>\n<section id=\"fixes-and-improvements-in-django-1-0-2\">\n<h2>Fixes and improvements in Django 1.0.2<a class=\"heading-anchor\" href=\"#fixes-and-improvements-in-django-1-0-2\"><span class=\"visually-hidden\">Link to this heading</span><span aria-hidden=\"true\">#</span></a></h2>\n<p>The primary reason behind this release is to remedy an issue in the\nrecently-released Django 1.0.1; the packaging scripts used for Django\n1.0.1 omitted some directories from the final release package,\nincluding one directory required by <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">django.contrib.gis</code> and part of\nDjango’s unit-test suite.</p>\n<p>Django 1.0.2 contains updated packaging scripts, and the release\npackage contains the directories omitted from Django 1.0.1. As such,\nthis release contains all of the fixes and improvements from Django\n1.0.1; see <a class=\"reference internal\" href=\"/en/dev/releases/1.0.1/\"><span class=\"doc\">the Django 1.0.1 release notes</span></a> for\ndetails.</p>\n<p>Additionally, in the period since Django 1.0.1 was released:</p>\n<ul class=\"simple\">\n<li><p>Updated Hebrew and Danish translations have been added.</p></li>\n<li><p>The default <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">__repr__</code> method of Django models has been made more\nrobust in the face of bad Unicode data coming from the\n<code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">__unicode__</code> method; rather than raise an exception in such\ncases, <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">repr()</code> will now contain the string “[Bad Unicode data]”\nin place of the invalid Unicode.</p></li>\n<li><p>A bug involving the interaction of Django’s <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">SafeUnicode</code> class\nand the MySQL adapter has been resolved; <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">SafeUnicode</code> instances\n(generated, for example, by template rendering) can now be assigned\nto model attributes and saved to MySQL without requiring an explicit\nintermediate cast to <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">unicode</code>.</p></li>\n<li><p>A bug affecting filtering on a nullable <code class=\"docutils literal notranslate\">DateField</code> in SQLite has\nbeen resolved.</p></li>\n<li><p>Several updates and improvements have been made to Django’s\ndocumentation.</p></li>\n</ul>\n</section>","rootId":"django-1-0-2-release-notes","toc":[{"title":"Fixes and improvements in Django 1.0.2","anchor":"fixes-and-improvements-in-django-1-0-2","children":[]}],"breadcrumbs":[{"docname":"releases/index","title":"Release notes","url":"/en/dev/releases/"}],"prev":{"docname":"releases/1.1","title":"Django 1.1 release notes","url":"/en/dev/releases/1.1/"},"next":{"docname":"releases/1.0.1","title":"Django 1.0.1 release notes","url":"/en/dev/releases/1.0.1/"},"formats":{"html":"/en/dev/releases/1.0.2/","markdown":"/en/dev/releases/1.0.2.md","json":"/en/dev/releases/1.0.2.json"},"source":"https://github.com/django/django/blob/main/docs/releases/1.0.2.txt","official":"https://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/releases/1.0.2/","inVersions":["dev","6.1","6.0","5.2","5.1","5.0","4.2","4.1","4.0","3.2","3.1","3.0","2.2","2.1","2.0","1.11","1.10","1.9","1.8"],"inLocales":["en"]}
